GGuest 14 December 2021I have had the best luck fishing the ridge in the fall. Live bait, trolling feathers/jigs, colt snipers and surface irons have been effective. Larger baitfish patterns have worked well with fly gear, such as clousers, flexi minnows, and other large streamers. I’ve gotten many strikes trolling Muskie streamers on the fly rod, from both tuna and marlin, but the marlin need a wide, sharp hook to get a good hook set, and they really like fished like a popper. I like to fish an 8wt for the smaller fish up to 15lbs, 10wt for fish up to 30lbs, and a 12wt for billfish and trolling. I also will usually have a 3wt for mackerel, bass, and other smaller fish.
