WAWindy AI 08 July 2026Oak Bay is a sheltered bay in southeastern Hood Canal, Jefferson County, Washington, supporting pink salmon, Chinook salmon, lingcod, and rockfish in the cold, productive waters of this deep Puget Sound fjord. Hood Canal's exceptional water quality and depth create outstanding conditions for both migratory salmon and resident cold-water bottomfish. Spot Features: Oak Bay is a sheltered bay in the southeastern Hood Canal area, Jefferson County, Washington, with the tidal habitat typical of Hood Canal that concentrates salmon during their migrations, plus the rocky structure that holds lingcod and rockfish. Salmon by trolling, lingcod by jigging over rocky structure in spring, rockfish on jigs and bait near the bottom throughout the season. Seasonality: Pink salmon run in Oak Bay and Hood Canal in summer of odd-numbered years in July and August. Chinook salmon stage in late summer through fall (August-October). Lingcod are most accessible in spring when they move shallower to spawn. Rockfish are year-round residents of rocky structure.
