The fishery was built in 1993 on former water meadows and the lakes each take their names from the original fields on which they now stand. In addition to the angling The Fennes has a superbly stocked on-site tackle shop which sells a wide range of fresh baits, ground baits, shelf life & frozen boilies incuding Main line, Sticky baits, CC Moore, pop-ups and wafters luggage, pods, alarms, metal wear, trollies, rods, reels, whips and terminal tackle from Korda other major brands . Hot and cold drinks & snacks also available.

Billericay and District Angling Club was formed in 1957, and now is the largest in Essex, offering fishing on 31 lakes and stretches of the river Roding, Blackwater, Pant, Wid and Stour. BDAC is affiliated to The Angling Trust. It also supports and endorses the Essex Angling Watch.

The shop sells boats. The buyer can conduct a test drive on the lake. All Lake Hire costs will be then refunded against the purchase of a boat.

Originally formed for the residents of the four Colnes villages and nearby Chappel, membership is now open to any angler who wishes to join. Club offers excellent fishing, in beautiful locations, for pleasure, specimen and match anglers alike.
