The lakes feature clear, deep water, rocky substrate, and diverse structure unusual for Florida freshwater fishing. Largemouth bass are targeted with soft plastics, crankbaits, and live shiners along the rocky margins, crappie on jigs and minnows in spring, bluegill on small jigs near the banks. Daily permits are required in addition to a fishing license. Seasonality: Largemouth bass are the primary year-round sport fish at Tenoroc Fish Management Area in the mild Florida climate, with peak activity in spring during the spawning period and in fall. Black crappie are excellent in spring during the spawn. Bluegill are active through the warmer months. The complex of 14 reclaimed phosphate mine lakes supports year-round fishing.
