The rocky canyon walls, submerged structure, and depth changes around Temple Bar concentrate striped bass, which are most effectively targeted by trolling or jigging in the 40-100 foot depth range. Largemouth bass are caught in the coves with soft plastics and crankbaits, stocked rainbow trout respond to standard trout techniques near the surface in cooler months. Seasonality: Striped bass are available year-round at Temple Bar on Lake Mead, with the best fishing in winter when cooler temperatures activate them in the deeper channel areas. Largemouth bass are most active in spring during spawning and in fall. Rainbow trout are stocked in the cooler months when water temperatures support them in the upper end of the reservoir. Channel and flathead catfish feed through the warmer months.
