Red drum and seatrout are targeted on the grass flats and in the tidal channels with soft plastics and live shrimp, flounder are taken on Gulp baits in the channels in fall, tarpon are pursued with live bait in the open sound in summer. Seasonality: Red drum are present year-round in Jekyll Sound, with the best action in fall from September through November when large bull reds concentrate in the channels. Spotted seatrout follow a warm-season pattern, most active from spring through fall. Flounder are a fall-run species, peaking from October through December. Tarpon migrate along the Georgia Golden Isles coast in late spring and summer.
