Alex Maes is a Belgian PRO kitesurfer. Alex literally grew up in a kitesurf shop — his family owns one. We asked Alex about his favorite spots — here’s what he answered:

1. Icapui , Brazil: raw undiscovered kite spot in the south of Fortaleza, where I built my own kite park.

2. Diani beach, Kenya: the most beautiful crystal blue water, ideal for foiling. Sometimes you get very good surf conditions here.

3. Hood River, Oregon: most special kite spot on the planet, surreal to ride on a river in between two massive mountains.

4. Cape Hatteras, North Carolina: when the South West is on, It doesn’t get much better than a session at REAL. When there is no wind, there is usually some good waves on the ocean side.
