Being proficient and having completed the prerequisite number of patrol hours allows the members to compete at all facets of the club's competition calendar. Competition events include surf race, ski, board and iron events, beach flags, sprinting and 2km runs, surf boat rowing, March Past and R&R (rescue and resuscitation), surf rescue competition and surf board/ Malibu board riding. This is from nippers through to masters.
The club offers various activities for members from Juniors Activities to Masters. Over 300 volunteer active members patrol Northcliffe Beach every year from September through to may each weekend and on public holidays. BMD Northcliffe boasts a strong junior activities section with over 450 members that we see as our life savers of the future.
Our club has one, less than full time, staff member who keeps the club administration running smoothly. Members are strongly committed to running the club and providing excellent services to beach visitors, members, families and the wider community. We have worked hard to establish a reputation for a welcoming, family-oriented club with a strong focus on encouraging children to actively participate in nippers and as long-term volunteer active members. On every Sunday morning during September to April there are hundreds of nippers, parents and families training to become future life savers and future community leaders – all as volunteers.
Kurrawa Surf Life Saving Club was formed in September 1958 and has a rich and rewarding history in both life saving and surf sports. Kurrawa has built a strong foundation over the past 50 years with over 1,000 active Surf Club members and over 14,000 Supporters Club members. So whether you’re a new resident to the Gold Coast, patrolling member or competitive member drop down and enjoy Kurrawa Surf Club.
