Atlantic Stingrays inhabit shallow bays, estuaries, and sandy coastal flats of the western Atlantic. With diamond-shaped bodies and long tails, they feed on worms, crabs, and mollusks by stirring sediment. Generally docile, they can deliver painful stings if disturbed. They are often encountered by waders and divers.
