Arripis trutta
Despite their name, Australian Salmon are unrelated to true salmon. Found along southern Australian coasts, they form vast surface schools. They chase baitfish with speed and endurance, often pursued by larger predators. Valued as sportfish for their acrobatics, they are less esteemed as table fare but excellent bait.
