The dorado is a legendary South American river predator known as the “tiger of the rivers.” It inhabits fast-flowing rivers, favoring rapids, current seams, eddies, and deep pools below falls. Highly aggressive and sight-oriented, it strikes lures at speed and is famous for explosive hits, powerful runs, and repeated aerial jumps. Armed with razor-sharp teeth, wire leaders are essential. Dorado feed mainly on fish and are sometimes used as fresh cut bait to target giant catfish and other apex river predators.
