Platycephalus fuscus
Dusky Flathead are ambush hunters found in Australian estuaries and bays. They bury in sand or mud near weed beds and drop-offs, blending perfectly to strike passing prey. Most active on tidal changes, they feed on fish, prawns, and crabs. Large flathead sometimes cannibalize smaller ones, making them both predator and quarry.
