Gulf Kingfish, or whiting, are surf-zone specialists of the Gulf of Mexico and western Atlantic. Slender with silver scales and faint stripes, they feed on worms, shrimp, and crabs stirred by waves. Abundant and schooling, they are caught year-round by surf anglers and are excellent both for food and bait.
