Inshore Lizardfish are bottom-dwellers in shallow sandy and muddy habitats along the western Atlantic. With elongated bodies and sharp teeth, they lie camouflaged, ambushing small fish and shrimp. Though not prized for food, they strike lures aggressively and are sometimes used as bait for larger predators.
