Pigfish, members of the grunt family, live in seagrass beds and coastal reefs of the western Atlantic. They feed on small crustaceans and worms, producing pig-like grunts when caught. Abundant in shallow waters, they are popular live bait for grouper and snapper, though also eaten for their white flesh.
