Southern stingray Fishing

Hypanus americanus

Southern Stingrays glide over sandy and seagrass flats of the western Atlantic. Large and diamond-shaped, they feed on buried mollusks, crabs, and fish, uncovering prey with wing beats. Though docile, their long tails can deliver stings if stepped on. They are common sights for divers and anglers in shallow seas.
