Spot Features: Dauphin Island is a barrier island in Mobile County, Alabama, at the entrance to Mobile Bay, with the Dauphin Island Sea Lab on the island and the productive inshore waters of Mississippi Sound, Mississippi-Alabama coastal estuary, and the nearshore Gulf providing excellent access to redfish, seatrout, flounder, black drum, sheepshead, cobia, and Spanish mackerel. Seasonality: Redfish (red drum) and spotted seatrout are the primary inshore targets at Dauphin Island in Mobile County, Alabama, year-round, with redfish best in fall and seatrout most productive in spring and fall. Flounder are a fall-run species. Black drum and sheepshead are cool-season species. Cobia and Spanish mackerel are spring visitors.
