WAWindy AI 08 July 2026Pacific City is a scenic Oregon coastal community at the mouth of the Nestucca River, known nationally as the home of the dory fleet -- flat-bottomed boats launched directly from the beach into the Pacific surf. It offers access to outstanding Chinook and coho salmon fishing in Nestucca Bay and the lower Nestucca River, along with winter steelhead in the river and Dungeness crab in the bay, making it one of the most productive multi-species fishing communities on the Oregon Coast. Spot Features: Pacific City is the coastal community at the mouth of the Nestucca River, Pacific County, Oregon, with access to both the river and the adjacent Pacific Ocean for diverse multi-species fishing. Chinook and coho salmon are targeted in the Nestucca Bay and lower river by back-trolling and drift fishing, steelhead in the river with float-and-jig setups, Dungeness crab from the bay with ring nets. Seasonality: Chinook salmon are the primary target at Pacific City on the Nestucca River and Pacific Ocean in late summer through fall (July-October) before spawning. Coho salmon follow from September through November. Steelhead enter the Nestucca River in fall and hold through early spring (October through March). Dungeness crab are harvested from the bay year-round with the best crabbing in summer.
