Dry Tortugas National Park is one of the most remote and pristine marine fishing environments in the United States, 70 miles west of Key West in the Gulf of Mexico, where cobia, king mackerel, permit, mangrove snapper, and mutton snapper can be targeted in crystal-clear waters surrounding the historic Fort Jefferson. The Dry Tortugas is both a fishing destination and one of the great natural wonders of the Florida Keys ecosystem. Spot Features: Dry Tortugas is a remote island group 70 miles west of Key West at the far western end of the Florida Keys, accessible only by seaplane or ferry, within the Dry Tortugas National Park. The exceptional water clarity, pristine reef systems, and remote location support cobia, king mackerel, permit, and diverse snapper species. Seasonality: Cobia and king mackerel are the primary targets at Dry Tortugas from spring through fall, with cobia most reliable in spring (April-June) and king mackerel most abundant from spring through fall. Permit, mangrove snapper, and mutton snapper are year-round reef species at the remote Dry Tortugas reef system.
