Seasonality: Black sea bass and ling (red hake) are the primary bottom fish targets at Shark River Reef in Monmouth County, New Jersey, from spring through fall, with black sea bass best from June through October and ling best in late fall and winter. Pollock and cod are cold-water fall and winter species. Bluefish and false albacore are warm-season pelagic species over the reef.
