Spot Features: Nantucket Shoals is the extensive shallow water area south and southeast of Nantucket Island in Nantucket County, Massachusetts, and the adjacent New York waters, one of the most historically significant and productive fishing areas in the western North Atlantic, with exceptional striped bass, bluefish, summer flounder, black sea bass, and cod fishing on the diverse shoal habitat. Seasonality: Striped bass and bluefish are the primary targets at Nantucket Shoals in the waters south and east of Nantucket in Massachusetts/New York boundary waters, from May through October, with stripers best in spring and fall and bluefish most abundant in summer. Summer flounder, black sea bass, and cod are bottom species.
