Shore and small-boat fishing are viable. Seasonality: Largemouth bass are the primary sport fish at Lake Lakota in the mild South Dakota climate, with peak activity in spring during the spawning period and in fall. Channel catfish feed actively through the warmer months from spring into fall. Black crappie move to shallow structure in spring during their spawn, offering the best crappie fishing of the year.
