The lake draws professional bass tournament anglers and recreational fishers from across the Southeast for its outstanding multi-species bass fishing. Spot Features: Allatoona Lake is a 12,000-acre USACE reservoir on the Etowah River in Cherokee, Cobb, and Bartow counties north of Atlanta, Georgia, featuring rocky main-channel banks, vegetated coves, and diverse habitat. Largemouth and Alabama bass in the coves with soft plastics and crankbaits, hybrid striped bass by trolling in open water, crappie around submerged timber and structure in spring. Seasonality: Largemouth bass and Alabama bass are the primary year-round sport fish at Allatoona Lake in the mild Georgia climate, with peak activity in spring during the spawning season and in fall. Hybrid striped bass school in open water through summer and fall. Crappie are excellent in spring during the spawn. The lake is famous for the Alabama bass subspecies that thrives here.
