Lake Marion is a Michigan freshwater lake supporting largemouth bass, smallmouth bass, and northern pike, offering the diverse multi-species fishing typical of northern Michigan's clear, glacially formed lakes in a productive warmwater and cool-season fishery. Spot Features: Lake Marion is a Michigan freshwater lake with the mixed bass and pike character typical of clear northern Michigan lakes. Largemouth bass are targeted along vegetated shallows, smallmouth along rocky structure with crankbaits and soft plastics, pike with large swimbaits and live bait near the weed edges. Ice fishing for pike in winter is a Michigan tradition. Seasonality: Largemouth bass and smallmouth bass are active at Lake Marion in the mild Michigan climate, with smallmouth most aggressive in the rocky, clear-water sections in late spring and summer and largemouth peaking in spring during spawning. Northern pike are most aggressive in spring and fall when cooler water energizes them and can be caught through the ice in Michigan winters.
