Spot Features: Farmers Lakes are Montana freshwater lakes, likely in the western part of the state, featuring the cold, clear water typical of Montana trout lakes. All three trout species respond to small spinners, flies, and bait near inlet streams and along the vegetated margins. Check MFWP for regulations and any stocking schedules. Seasonality: Rainbow trout, brown trout, and brook trout are active from ice-out in late spring through the Montana summer and into fall at Farmers Lakes. The best fishing is in late May through June and again in September and October when water temperatures are ideal and hatches are most productive. The lakes may be partially frozen from late fall through April.
