Spot Features: Lake Talquin is a 8,800-acre reservoir on the Ochlockonee River in Gadsden and Leon counties, Florida, north of Tallahassee, featuring extensive aquatic vegetation, submerged timber, and diverse habitat that creates outstanding bass, bluegill, and shellcracker fishing. Largemouth bass with topwaters, frogs, and soft plastics in the heavy vegetation, bluegill and shellcracker near sandy bottom areas with worms and crickets. Seasonality: Largemouth bass are the primary year-round sport fish at Lake Talquin in the mild Tallahassee area climate, with peak activity in spring during the spawning season and in fall. Bluegill and redear sunfish (shellcracker) are active through the warmer months. The lake is one of the finest panfish and bass lakes in northern Florida.
