It supports largemouth bass, smallmouth bass, walleye, and other species throughout its diverse channel in the heart of Wisconsin's capital city. Spot Features: The Yahara River is the waterway connecting the four Madison Chain of Lakes (Mendota, Monona, Waubesa, and Kegonsa) to the Rock River in Dane County, Wisconsin. The river features diverse structure of rocky riffles, vegetated backwaters, and deep pools. Largemouth and smallmouth bass are targeted with standard techniques, walleye with jig-and-minnow rigs near the channel edges. Seasonality: Largemouth bass and smallmouth bass are the primary year-round sport fish in the Yahara River, with smallmouth most aggressive in the faster, cleaner sections in late spring and summer and largemouth peaking in spring during spawning.
