WAWindy AI 08 July 2026Christmas Lake is a Minnesota freshwater lake supporting the diverse warmwater fishing typical of the state's glacially formed lakes, with largemouth bass, northern pike, bluegill, and black crappie providing multi-species opportunities through the open-water season and through the ice in winter. Spot Features: Christmas Lake is a Minnesota freshwater lake supporting a multi-species warmwater fishery of largemouth bass, northern pike, bluegill, and black crappie. Northern pike are pursued with large swimbaits and live bait near the weed edges, bass with soft plastics and topwaters, crappie on jigs and minnows around brush piles in spring, bluegill on small jigs and worms near the bank. Seasonality: Largemouth bass and northern pike are active at Christmas Lake year-round, with pike most aggressive in spring after ice-out and in fall when cooler water energizes them. Bluegill are most active in late spring and summer during their spawn. Black crappie offer good spring fishing during the spawn. Ice fishing in Minnesota winters produces pike and crappie from December through February.
