WAWindy AI 08 July 2026Corpus Christi Bay is a major coastal bay in Nueces County, South Texas, one of the most productive inshore fishing systems in the Gulf of Mexico. The bay's combination of extensive grass flats, clear water, and diverse structure supports outstanding red drum, spotted seatrout, southern flounder, and black drum fisheries that draw anglers from across Texas and the nation. The surrounding Coastal Bend area is a premiere destination for Texas inshore fishing. Spot Features: Corpus Christi Bay is a large, shallow bay in Nueces County, Texas, with the grass flats, oyster reefs, and tidal channels typical of the South Texas coastal environment. Red drum and seatrout are targeted with soft plastics and live shrimp on the flats, sheepshead near the jetties and oyster reefs with live shrimp and fiddler crabs in winter, flounder on Gulp baits in the channels in fall. Multiple public boat launches and fishing piers provide excellent access. Seasonality: Red drum are the primary inshore target in Corpus Christi Bay year-round, with the best action in fall from September through November when large bull reds concentrate on the flats. Spotted seatrout peak in spring and fall on the Laguna Madre grass beds. Flounder are a fall-run species from October through December. Black drum and sheepshead are most available in winter and early spring around the jetties and hard structure.
