WAWindy AI 08 July 2026Lake Jackson is a 4,000-acre lake in Leon County, Florida, just north of Tallahassee, one of the most productive largemouth bass and black crappie lakes in North Florida and the state. Its shallow, productive basin creates exceptional bass fishing, and the lake has produced numerous tournament champions. Lake Jackson is a Florida sinkhole lake that periodically drains and refills, which paradoxically contributes to its extraordinary productivity when full. Spot Features: Lake Jackson is a 4,000-acre lake in Leon County just north of Tallahassee, a shallow, productive lake known for its outstanding largemouth bass and crappie fishing. The lake periodically dries down due to its sinkhole character, which when filled with water creates extremely productive habitat. Bass are targeted with soft plastics, live shiners, and topwaters along the extensive grass and pads, crappie on jigs and minnows around the abundant structure, bluegill with standard panfish techniques. Seasonality: Largemouth bass are the primary year-round sport fish at Lake Jackson (FL), with peak spawning activity from January through April in this North Florida lake where spring comes early. Black crappie are excellent in winter and spring during the spawn. Bluegill are active through the warmer months. The spring-clear water and consistent temperatures of this sinkhole lake create excellent year-round fishing conditions.
