Spot Features: Ross Lake is a 24-mile-long reservoir in the North Cascades of Whatcom County, Washington, created by Ross Dam in the Skagit River, featuring dramatic mountain scenery and pristine water. Access is primarily by floatplane, water taxi, or an 8-mile trail hike. Rainbow and cutthroat trout are targeted by trolling and fly fishing in the crystal-clear water. Ross Lake Resort provides boat rentals and access. Seasonality: Rainbow trout and cutthroat trout are the primary sport fish at Ross Lake, active from ice-out in late spring through the North Cascades summer and into fall. Eastern brook trout may be present in some areas. The lake is within North Cascades National Park with very remote access primarily by floatplane or water taxi from the Diablo Lake area.
