Chinook, pink, and coho salmon are targeted by trolling in the productive bay currents, cutthroat trout near shoreline areas. Seasonality: Chinook salmon are the primary target in Skagit Bay and the southern Whidbey Island area in late summer through fall (August-October) before entering the Skagit River and other Puget Sound tributaries. Pink salmon run in odd-numbered years in July and August. Coho salmon follow from September through November. Cutthroat trout are year-round residents.
