Spot Features: Starrigavan Bay is a protected tidal bay north of Sitka in Southeast Alaska, adjacent to the Starrigavan Recreation Area. Chinook and coho salmon are targeted by trolling herring or hoochie rigs near the bay entrance and in the deeper water beyond, cutthroat trout near the creek mouth and along the bay shoreline with small spinners and herring, halibut in the deeper adjacent waters. Seasonality: Chinook salmon are the primary target in Starrigavan Bay from late spring through fall (May-September) as fish stage before running up Starrigavan Creek near Sitka, Alaska. Coho salmon follow from August through October. Cutthroat trout are year-round residents of the bay and adjacent Starrigavan Creek. Halibut are available in the deeper water adjacent to the bay.
