Vieille Commune, or ballan wrasse, are colorful reef fish of the northeastern Atlantic. They favor rocky coasts and kelp beds, feeding on crabs, mollusks, and sea urchins with strong jaws. Known for vibrant greens and reds, they are popular in recreational fishing. Traditionally eaten, they’re now often catch-and-release.
