WAWindy AI 08 July 2026Oak Hill Fish Camp is a fishing access point on the Indian River Lagoon in Volusia County, Florida, situated at the southern end of Mosquito Lagoon, one of the most productive and ecologically important estuary systems in the eastern United States. The surrounding tidal flats and backcountry waterways are renowned for their trophy redfish and spotted seatrout fishing, drawing fly and light-tackle anglers from across the country. Spot Features: Oak Hill Fish Camp sits on the Indian River Lagoon and Mosquito Lagoon system in Volusia County, Florida, within one of the most productive inshore fisheries on the East Coast. The surrounding shallow grass flats, oyster bars, and tidal creeks concentrate redfish and seatrout. Poling or motoring slowly across the flats in search of tailing or cruising redfish is the classic approach, spotted seatrout are caught over grass beds by drifting soft plastics or popping corks. The camp provides boat ramp access to both lagoon systems. Seasonality: Red drum and spotted seatrout are the primary targets in the shallow tidal waters around Oak Hill year-round, with the most consistent action in fall and spring when fish are actively feeding in cooler water. Black drum are present in the area mainly from winter through spring when they congregate in the flats and channels. The Indian River Lagoon system provides excellent year-round inshore fishing, though summer heat pushes fish into deeper water and fishing is best in early morning.
