The bay provides some of the most accessible boat launch facilities on the North Shore. Seasonality: Lake trout are the primary cold-water species at Crystal Bay in Lake Tahoe, active year-round in the deep clear water, with the best angling in spring when fish move shallower and in fall. Rainbow trout and kokanee salmon are active through the open-water season, most catchable in spring and fall. Mackinaw (lake trout) are California's top deep-water trophy target at Lake Tahoe.
