Spot Features: Mosquito Lagoon in Volusia and Brevard counties, Florida, within Canaveral National Seashore and the Merritt Island National Wildlife Refuge, is one of the most productive and pristine inshore fisheries in Florida, world-famous among fly fishers and light tackle anglers for its exceptional and sight fishable redfish and seatrout on the crystal-clear shallow flats. Seasonality: Redfish (red drum) and spotted seatrout are the primary inshore targets in Mosquito Lagoon in Volusia and Brevard counties, Florida, year-round, with redfish year-round and a fall peak and seatrout best in spring and fall. Black drum, snook, and tarpon are seasonal inshore species. Sheepshead are cool-season structure fish.

My technique: Spinning rod My catch: Red Drum, Spotted Seatrout, Black Drum, Tarpon, Snook, Flounder Average size: Slot and smaller. 20. My biggest catch: Snook Bait: Artificial. My advice for other anglers: Beware of sharks and alligators and watch out for the dolphins and manatees.
