Spot Features: Lake Powell is a massive 250,000-acre reservoir on the Colorado River straddling Utah and Arizona at the Glen Canyon National Recreation Area, featuring 2,000 miles of shoreline of dramatic canyon walls, sandy beaches, and deep blue water. Largemouth bass in the vegetated coves and sandy shallows, striped bass by trolling or jigging in the main channel, smallmouth bass along the canyon walls. Multiple marinas provide access around the lake. Seasonality: Largemouth bass are the primary year-round sport fish at Lake Powell, most active in spring during the spawning period and in fall. Striped bass are a year-round schooling species with the best action in fall and winter when cooler temperatures energize them. Smallmouth bass are most aggressive in the rocky canyon sections in late spring and summer. The desert climate allows fishing year-round with the most comfortable conditions in spring and fall.
