Spot Features: Ponce de Leon Inlet in Volusia County, Florida, at the southern end of the New Smyrna Beach barrier island, is one of the deepest natural inlets on the Florida Atlantic coast, providing excellent access to the nearshore and offshore Atlantic fishing for snapper, grouper, cobia, amberjack, mahi-mahi, wahoo, and blackfin tuna within reach of the local charter fleet. Seasonality: Snapper and grouper are the primary offshore targets from Ponce de Leon Inlet in Volusia County, Florida, year-round, with the best action in spring and fall for grouper and summer for red snapper (subject to federal season). Cobia and amberjack are spring and summer offshore visitors. Mahi-mahi, wahoo, and blackfin tuna are warm-season pelagic species.
