Spot Features: Suwannee in Dixie County, Florida, at the mouth of the Suwannee River (immortalized in the Stephen Foster song) on the Gulf of Mexico Nature Coast, is a productive fishing community with excellent spotted seatrout, redfish, black drum, flounder, and Spanish mackerel fishing in the Suwannee Sound and the river mouth estuary. Seasonality: Spotted seatrout and redfish are the primary inshore targets at Suwannee in Dixie County, Florida, at the mouth of the Suwannee River on the Nature Coast, year-round, with seatrout best in spring and fall and redfish best in fall. Black drum and flounder are cool-season species. Spanish mackerel are a warm-season nearshore visitor.
