The combination of peacock bass and largemouth bass in this scenic Puerto Rico reservoir creates an exciting multi-species fishing destination on the island. Spot Features: Lago de Guajataca is a 910-acre reservoir in Isabela and San Sebastian municipalities, Puerto Rico, known as the largest natural freshwater lake in Puerto Rico and one of the few lakes in the island supporting butterfly peacock bass. Peacock bass are targeted with small plugs, Roostertails, and streamers cast along the vegetated margins, largemouth bass with standard warmwater techniques. Seasonality: Butterfly peacock bass and largemouth bass are the primary year-round sport fish at Lago de Guajataca in the mild Puerto Rico climate, most active in spring during spawning and in fall. Mosquitofish are a common non-game species. The warm tropical climate allows year-round fishing for all species.
