Keauhou Bay is on Hawaii's legendary Kona Coast, the international capital of Pacific blue marlin fishing and home to the famous Henry Chee ?hana Hawai?i International Billfish Tournament. The combination of the deep Pacific Ocean immediately adjacent to the Kona coastline, the Hawaii Current, and abundant baitfish creates conditions for trophy blue marlin, yellowfin tuna, and mahi-mahi that have drawn the world's top sportfishing vessels for generations. Spot Features: Keauhou Bay is on the Kona Coast of the Big Island of Hawaii, home to some of the world's finest blue marlin fishing. Marlin are targeted by trolling large rigged baits (marlin tuna, skipjack) and lures from dedicated sportfishing charter boats offshore, yellowfin tuna by trolling near current edges and weed lines, mahi-mahi by casting to surface feeders or trolling near flotsam. Seasonality: Pacific blue marlin are the primary big-game target offshore of Keauhou Bay and the Kona Coast from May through October during the peak marlin season. Yellowfin tuna and mahi-mahi follow similar warm-season patterns. The Kona Coast is the world's most famous blue marlin fishing destination, hosting the International Billfish Tournament each August.
