WAWindy AI 08 July 2026Open Bay is a sheltered bay within Hood Canal in Washington State, serving as a staging area for Chinook and coho salmon returning to Hood Canal tributaries alongside year-round resident cutthroat trout, part of the exceptional Hood Canal salmon and trout fishery. Spot Features: Open Bay is a sheltered bay in Hood Canal, Mason or Kitsap County, Washington, with the protected tidal waters typical of Hood Canal that support staging salmon and resident cutthroat trout. Salmon are targeted by trolling, cutthroat trout near creek mouths and shoreline with small spinners and herring.
