Striped bass are targeted with live mackerel, swimming plugs, and eels near the rocky structure, mackerel on small diamond jigs, bluefish with metal jigs and poppers. Seasonality: Striped bass move through Whitehead Passage and the Maine coastal waters in spring (May-June) and fall (September-October) during their coastal migrations. Bluefish follow baitfish through summer and fall. Atlantic mackerel are abundant near the Maine coast in late spring and early summer.
