Yellowfin tuna are targeted by trolling rigged ballyhoo or chunking near weed lines and current edges, mahi-mahi on the same trolling setups, wahoo with high-speed lures, blue marlin on rigged teasers and large lures. Seasonality: Yellowfin tuna are the marquee pelagic species in Virgin Passage, most abundant from late spring through fall (May-October) when warm Caribbean currents push bait schools close to Puerto Rico.
