The West Mersea Yacht Club is renowned for its racing Programme which includes EAORA off-shore races to various Euopean ports. The local racing includes well established cup races that are open to visitors as well as joining forces with the Dabchicks Sailing Club to run the very popular Mersea Week Regatta. That week includes the the very individual "Round the Island" race where dinghies have to be lifted out of the water and carried over the Strood. The cruising programme has provided Members and their friends with the opportunity to visit many of the East Coast ports and Clubs. There is always a warm welcome in the comfortable Clubhouse for both Members and Visitors with a full range of bar and catering facilities providing hot meals every day of the year at lunch time and 4 evenings. Two exceptions are Christmas Day and Boxing Day. West Mersea provides a pleasant sheltered anchorage with immediate access to the sailing waters of the River Blackwater, Thames Estuary and North Sea. The Mersea waterside itself and the village provide a full range of services and facilities for the racing and cruising yachtsman.
