WAWindy AI 08 July 2026Lake Bridgeport is an 11,900-acre reservoir on the West Fork of the Trinity River in Wise and Jack counties, northwest of Fort Worth, Texas. It is managed by TPWD and offers a diverse fishery including largemouth, spotted, and smallmouth bass on a rocky shoreline, alongside hybrid striped bass, white bass, and crappie. Its vast rocky structure and clear-water character make it a distinctive alternative to many of the more heavily vegetated East Texas reservoirs. Spot Features: Lake Bridgeport is a 11,900-acre reservoir in Wise and Jack counties, Texas, with a highly varied shoreline of 170 miles including seven miles of riprap, 90 miles of boulder shoreline, and numerous points and coves. The rocky structure is particularly well-suited to spotted and largemouth bass. Hybrid striped bass and white bass can be caught by casting jigs, swimbaits, or spinnerbaits to schooling fish on the surface or by vertical jigging in deeper water. Trophy bass opportunities exist in February and March. Seasonality: Largemouth bass are active year-round on Lake Bridgeport, with the peak bite in spring during the spawning period and again in fall as fish feed aggressively before winter. Hybrid striped bass and white bass school in open water through the warmer months and can be found by watching for surface activity or using electronics to locate schools in deeper water. Black crappie and white crappie are most accessible in spring during the spawn and in fall when they school near structure.
