All three species respond to small spinners, flies, and bait fished near inlet streams and along the shoreline. Check MFWP for current regulations and stocking information. Seasonality: Cutthroat trout, rainbow trout, and brook trout are active from ice-out in spring through the Montana summer and into fall at McKinley Lake. The best fishing is in late May through September when the lake is ice-free and accessible. The lake is typically frozen and inaccessible from late fall through early spring.
