WAWindy AI 08 July 2026Long Pond is a small freshwater pond in Massachusetts supporting the classic coastal plain fishery of largemouth bass, chain pickerel, and yellow perch. This combination is found throughout southeastern Massachusetts, where the sandy-bottomed glacial ponds host all three species in productive warmwater and cool-season fisheries. Spot Features: Long Pond is a small Massachusetts coastal plain pond with the vegetated margins, submerged structure, and weed beds typical of southeastern Massachusetts pond fishing. Bass and pickerel patrol the weed edges, perch school in open water in fall. Standard techniques: soft plastics and topwaters for bass, jerkbaits and spinners for pickerel, small jigs and minnows for perch. Seasonality: Largemouth bass are the primary year-round sport fish at Long Pond, with peak activity in spring during the spawning period and in fall. Chain pickerel are most aggressive in the cooler months from fall through early spring. Yellow perch school in fall and can be caught through the ice in Massachusetts winters. All species slow during the coldest winter months.
