The strong tidal currents through the Woods Hole passages concentrate striped bass, bluefish, and bonito. Live eels and swimmers for stripers at dawn and dusk, metal jigs and poppers for bluefish and bonito. Seasonality: Striped bass move past Nobska Point and are accessible in the adjacent waters in spring (May-June) and fall (September-October) during their coastal migrations through Vineyard Sound and Buzzards Bay. Bluefish follow baitfish through summer and fall. Atlantic bonito appear in the Vineyard Sound area in summer and early fall (July-October) following baitfish schools and provide exciting light-tackle action.
